The Honorable Michael J. Algeo is currently Special Counsel to the State's Attorney for Montgomery County, MD and serves as the Felony Trial Team Leader in the Circuit Court. In November, 2016 he was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan as Chairman of the Maryland Racing Commission.
He was a Judge on the Circuit Court for Montgomery County from 2005 until his retirement in July, 2014. His judicial career began in 1999, as an Associate Judge for the District Court of Maryland, where he served for six years. Judge Algeo is an Adjunct Professor at the Washington College of Law of American University and Montgomery College. He is the author of Crimes and the Constitution, a criminal law text used at Montgomery College.
